Northfield Arts Guild Theater presents Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning drama, Death of Salesman. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 411 Third Street West, Northfield.

Director Marc Robinson is a professor of Russian at St. Olaf College who specializes in contemporary Russian theater.  He has directed a number of shows at the Guild over the years including Dracula, The Importance of Being Earnest, his own play The Singer Sisters, and Cabaret.  Marc’s interest in Russian physical theater is inspiring him to try a new approach with the American classic, Death of a Salesman. “I see the play as dealing with something very pertinent to today's US,: says Robinson, " - the place of those who have found their livelihoods no longer relevant to contemporary society.  For Willy Loman, it was being a traveling salesman.  For contemporary Americans it might be factory workers, farm workers or any number of people who find that the things they planned to work at for their whole life have disappeared.  I see the real tragedy not only as the death of Willy Loman, but the fact that his entire family is doomed to extinction along with him.”

The Death of Salesman cast features Frank Blomgren and Susan Dunhaupt as Willy and Linda Loman, Ben Pelegano as Happy, Jonathan Larson as Biff, James Ayers as Bernard, Felicia Crosby as The Woman, Carter Martin as Charley, Greg Muth as Uncle Ben, Chris Heineman as Howard Wagner, Taylor Heitman as Jenny, Rob Schanilec as Stanley, Hannah Phipps as Miss Forsythe and Alison Haider as Letta.

An opening night reception for Death of Salesman will be held prior to the Friday, September 22 performance.  Following the Sunday, September 24th performance will be a post-show discussion.

The 2017-18 “Striking Conversations” Theater Season is sponsored by Neuger Communications Group and Engage Print. Death of Salesman is supported additionally by Labor Arbitration  Institute.

The Northfield Arts Guild Office, Shop and Gallery, 304 Division Street South, are open on Tuesdays through Fridays from 12:00pm to 6:00pm and on Saturdays from 11:00am to 3:00 pm.
