Classics Lost ‘n’ Found Theater Company is pleased to announce the world premiere of “Home, Not So Sweet Homeless” by Noreen K. Brandt. The proceeds for this production will be donated to Beacon Housing and Families Moving Forward, both church-affiliated homeless support groups.

Subtitled “A Fable of Our Time,” the production is directed by Frank Blomgren, “Home, Not So Sweet Homeless” will play four performances, Friday, May 11 and May 18 and Saturday, May 12 and 19 at 7 pm. The production will be performed at Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church. 5011 S. 31st Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55417.

“Home, Not-So-Sweet Homeless” examines how these people manage to survive while attempting to jump through the hoops that society has created to help them. The play offers neither answers nor resolutions but attempts to address a system that’s been broken since the Reagan Administration.

Noreen K. Brandt, an East Nokomis resident, has had plays performed throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. A long-time VA Hospital employee (now retired), her inspiration for this play was seeing the sheer volume of homeless veterans increase in the past ten years, despite augmented government funding.  Her hope in producing this play is that audiences will see "the homeless" not as a problem, statistic or as faceless people to be ignored, but as real people in bad circumstances who need our help and compassion. Classics Lost ‘n’ Found Theater Company is requesting a suggested donation of $10 for this benefit production. For further information, contact Noreen Brandt at 612-724-4539.
