The Karen L. Charles Threads Dance Project invites you to its 12th season performance, In the Margins. This performance features Charles’ exploration of those who often live “in the margins of society” – an examination of implicit bias as experienced by deaf/hard of hearing communities, and women in America.
Threads will premiere a new work, To Hear like Me, which seeks to bridge the gap between the deaf/hard of hearing community and the hearing community; creating an experience with dance that incorporates American Sign Language, music visualization, and silence within the piece. Threads will also perform Femthology - a compilation of repertory works examining the experience of being female.
The entire show will challenge the audience to be more aware, empathetic, and inclusive of these two marginalized groups who find themselves living In the Margins.
Post show discussion on Friday night, November 16th.
In the Margins will have open captioning and ASL interpretation for both shows.
