Tennessee Williams' ONE ARM

ONE ARM is the story of Ollie, a young farm boy who joins the Navy and becomes a boxing champion. Soon after, he loses his arm in a car accident and turns to hustling to survive. This adaptation is not a realistic play. Using meta-theatrical device, it resurrects a text from one of America’s greatest playwrights (that was too shocking to be produced within his lifetime), asserting theater’s ability to create informed dialogue and give new political context to a story from the past.

Joseph Stodola (director / designer) is a director and scenic designer based in the Twin Cities. He has worked with the Guthrie Theater (A Christmas Carol, Other Desert Cities), Theatre Latté Da (Company), and the Jungle Theater (Shipwrecked!). Stodola directed the hit workshop production of ONE ARM at the 2014 Minnesota Fringe Festival.
