Comedy

“The Savannah Sipping Society,” a comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, will be performed September 15-October 1, on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. as well as Sundays at 2:30 p.m.at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wis.

This joyful and touching comedy is by the writers of “The Dixie Swim Club.” Four very different Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by fate - and an impromptu happy hour - and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life that they have lost. Over the course of six months, filled with laughter, misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives. Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment - and most importantly, realize it’s never too late to make new old friends.

Director Marcie Berg has worked at various theaters throughout Minn. and Wis. Her most recent directing credits include “A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody” at The Phipps, “We Are Monsters” for Ashland Productions’ A.C.T. program, and “Death by Design: A Comedy with Murder” at Lakeshore Players.
