Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape – with the help of some prodigious penguins – to explore the world. They find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

A plastic surgeon offers black women a chance to change their appearance, free of charge. This new horror play cuts into the complexity of black skin in America, and the role white supremacy and privilege have played in making it into a prison.

This year, Dangerous Productions has partnered up with local playwright Oya Mae Duchess Davis to create SKIN. This terrifying new production explores themes of racism, colorism, cultural identity, and white privilege, peeling back layers of "Minnesota nice" to reveal a very scary underside. Bloody, violent, and NOW.

A new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of depravity, lust, love, and horror. On the fog-bound streets of Victorian-era London, Henry Jekyll's experiments with  exotic "powders and tinctures" have brought forth his other self --- Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villian free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comphrehend. When Hyde meets a woman who stirs his interest, Jekyll fears for her life and decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who shall be the master and who the slave. With multiple Hydes portrayed by members of the cast.--Dramatist Play Service, INC.

"A smart, tense and suspenseful new take on Stevenson's look at the evil that lurks in the hearts of men...Hatcher has fashioned a play that seems truer to Stevenson but hipper, sexier and more intense...a suspense almost affecting as it is intense." --The San Francisco Chronicle

The Hollow

A Murder Mystery

by Agatha Christie

Directed by George M. Roesler

An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow, home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatell, arguably Christie’s finest comic grande dame. Dr. Cristow, the Harley Street lothario, is at the center of the trouble when, assembled in one place, we find his dull but devoted wife Gerda, his mistress and prominent sculptor Henrietta and his former lover and Hollywood film star Veronica Craye. Also visiting are Edward and Midge whose romantic assertions are likewise thrown into the mix. As the list of romantic associations grow so does the list of potential suspects when Cristow is shot dead. Nearly everyone has a motive but only one of them did the deed. A smoking gun-but who pulled the trigger?

Considered one of the most poetic – and shocking – plays of Tennessee Williams. A prominent New Orleans family is mourning the sudden death of its only son, Sebastian. The grief of his mother Violet is matched only by her determination to silence her niece Catharine – whose memories of Sebastian’s final days are so traumatic that she’s been committed to an asylum. If Violet has her way, the doctors will cut those memories out of Catharine’s brain forever.

The Macalester College Theatre and Dance Department presents The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov, as the last theatre production on the historical Janet Wallace mainstage.  Forty students, faculty, guest artists and alumni have been working on the show since early September.  There are only three (3) performances:  November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at 7:30pm.  The Cherry Orchard will be followed on November 17-18 by the last dance concert on the stage -- and then the building will be evacuated, with demolition beginning in early December.

The Cherry Orchard was Chekhov’s last play.  A formerly aristocratic family is mired in debt, and they must sell their estate, let their servants go, and adapt to the new twentieth century.  Chekhov wrote the play while he knew he was dying of tuberculosis, and the play is full of foreboding about change, and hope for the future.  The famous characters are nostalgic for their lost leisure and courageous as they face new ways of life.  Beth Cleary, the production’s director, chose the play because of its concentration on endings -- and beginnings.

Theatre Coup d’Etat presents Moby Dick, a new original adaptation from the novel by Herman Melville, performing November 3 - 20, 7:30pm at Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3 in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS – Herman Melville’s Moby Dick has been called the “greatest American novel”. This adaptation illustrates what truly makes America great - diversity, inclusion, and hard work. Coup d’Etat’s Moby Dick is the story of a diverse crew of sailors working during the height of the whaling industry, as told through the eyes of a callow narrator, Ishmael. The hunt this time, however, is for the leviathan that took the leg and splintered the mind of Captain Ahab, a man haunted by demons of his own making. Under the wisdom and guidance of the great harpooner Queequeg, Ishmael gives us a lens into a world of cultural unity, moral and ethical conflict, and what it means to depend on the person next to you in a dangerous world where each day could be your last.

Two-time Ivey Award-winning Theatre Coup d’Etat is proud to present this world premier in the Twin Cities. Combining actor-driven movement, live sound-scaping and music, and the intimate seating of Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3, Theatre Coup d’Etat’s production of Moby Dick is another can’t-miss experience.

Presented by Mathew Janczewski's ARENA DANCES

Mathew Janczewski’s ARENA DANCES is pleased to present The Architect, an evening-length solo for longtime ARENA dancer Timmy Wagner. It is an intimate exploration of the beginnings of a creative idea and the playful process of completing that creation. The idiosyncratic and intricate movement will be heightened with an interactive set design by fabric artist Margarita Jane Arguedas plus text contributions and dramaturgical support by Rachel Jendrzejewski and projection design by Meena Mangalvedhekar.

The Architect draws from the collaborative work of these specific artists, exploring real time processes and the questions that arise: “Where did this or that idea come from? How has one’s own journey or interpretation revealed itself?”

The year is 1913. Progress runs on coal, but the immigrant miners from southern Colorado are being squeezed beyond endurance.
They work the seam while corporate forces arrayed against them spy, manipulate and disrupt, crushing any hint of “union.” Yet the
workers and their families lean on one another, wait, hope…and plan.

How far will the company go? When will the pawns realize that together they are strong? But the chess board squares are all coal
black in Las Animas County, near the River of the Lost Souls in Purgatory. And the flames are getting closer.

Nimbus brings you the fearsome saga of the Ludlow massacre, the deadliest labor dispute in American history.
