A World Premiere

By Ifa Bayeza

Directed by Talvin Wilks

A small, segregated town is about to be turned upside down as fate brings a young boy from Chicago to a candy counter in Money, Mississippi. The second play in Ifa Bayeza’s powerful

trilogy about Emmett Till, benevolence is a haunting, unforgettable portrait of the collateral damage surrounding a case that gained international attention and sparked the Civil Rights Movement. Penumbra produced Bayeza’s award-winning The Ballad of Emmett Till in 2014

to critical acclaim. Join us for this second chapter as we open ritual space to remember and reconnect our hearts with our history in service of a better tomorrow.

In this charming romantic comedy that centers on Rosalind and Orlando, everything seems to get turned around: lords and ladies are banished from court, brothers are at odds and guises abound in the Forest of Arden. Set in the here and now with the same great Shakespeare text, this amusing and often-musical world of royalty, rebels and clowns comes together in the end to celebrate four weddings between some of the Bard’s most beloved characters.

FLOWERS FOR THE ROOM | a new musical

book by Jessica Lind Peterson
lyrics by Blake Thomas
music by Blake Thomas and Matt Riehle
directed by Jason Peterson
musical direction by Matt Riele

FEBRUARY 1st – MARCH 3rd, 2019

Allison and Jake have only just begun their new lives when a tragic accident changes everything. Trapped inside her own mind, Allison (Jessica Lind Peterson) hears the world around her, but the world cannot hear her. Julie (Norah Long), a recently divorced social worker and reluctant medium, attempts to convince Allison to hold on. Magic meets mundane as the unconscious mind collides with the reality of hospital life. As days turn to weeks, Jake (Zachary Stofer) loses hope of getting his wife back and both must decide whether to continue the fight, or to finally let each other go. With a story by award-winning playwright Jessica Lind Peterson (String, Miracle on Christmas Lake) and a gorgeous original score by contemporary folk sensation Blake Thomas, Flowers for the Room is a stunning new musical about human resilience and the power of choice.
