3-day Intimacy for the Stage workshop - MLK weekend

Stage Intimacy Three-day workshop with Jessica Steinrock of Intimacy Directors International

January 18-20 - Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend

Six Elements Theatre is proud to partner with Intimacy Directors International once again to provide a three-day learning opportunity in the art of staging moments of intimacy for the stage. This intensive gives attendees a grounding in the techniques used to tell stories of physical and emotional intimacy. It will offer tools and language for artists to advocate for themselves and one another, which will include how to utilize consent to foster more confident and courageous artistic spaces. Participants will also engage with techniques for staging choreography and in a discussion of safety and industry best practices centered on IDI’s five pillar method.

This workshop is open to any and all in the theatrical world, including performers, directors, stage managers, and more. Participants should be prepared to participate in exercises from the perspective of performers, though no exercises are compulsory.

Please note – Some facilitated exercises may involve touching (handshakes, handholding, hugging); intimate touch is never required, and modifications are always welcomed.

The workshop will be located at 1675 MN-36 Roseville, MN

We will be using a portion of the old Herberger’s space in the Rosedale Shopping Center. Registrants will receive more detailed arrival information via email.

Sessions will run from 10AM to 6PM Saturday Jan 18 through Monday Jan 20, with a 1-hour meal break each day.
