Classical Actors Ensemble is seeking two talented high school or college students for an internship as performers in our spring 2019 educational tour of Romeo and Juliet. High school students should be juniors or seniors. We're seeking young men or students who can present as young men. The interns will receive significant training in acting, text work, and stage combat from professional artists and artist/educators. The interns will receive a small stipend. Students of color are encouraged to apply. Intern roles will include Sampson, Gregory, Balthasar, and Abraham.
Rehearsals will be held in Minneapolis on intermittent weekday evenings TBD (6:30-10pm) and Saturday afternoons beginning January 2, 2019, with the schedule becoming more regular towards the end of the month through February 12. There will be a total of 12-18 school day performances between February 13 and May 3, 2019, so high school students will need permission to miss school (some partial days, some whole days). The student interns we've had on our last three tours were all able to continue participating in their schools' theater productions.
Past tours have visited St. Paul Academy and Summit School, Mounds Park Academy, Eastview High, Irondale High, Faribault High, Hancock High, St. Paul Central High, Edina High, West Fargo Sheyenne High, Rochester Mayo High, Oak Grove Middle School, Parnassus Preparatory School, and Breck Middle School. Our teaching artists have worked with students at St. Paul Academy and Summit School, NOVA Classical Academy, Paynesville High School, Hamline University, the University of St. Thomas, and St. Olaf College.
Interested students should contact us at auditions (at) classicalactorsensemble.org with a headshot and resume. If you don't have a headshot and resume, please send a picture of yourself that you like and a paragraph about your previous theater experience and future goals. We will reply to all, but schedule auditions only with select applicants.
