Artist/Art Teacher Needed for LION KING KIDS

Blue Water Theatre Company, a nonprofit youth theatre organization that works with young actors from elementary school through college, is looking for an artist or art teacher to join our directing team for our summer elementary school production of DISNEY'S LION KING KIDS.

We are looking for an individual who can take the lead on working with our cast of about 30 kids on their creation of costumes, masks, and props for the show. We also would like that person to take the lead in the design and creation of a simple set for the production.

The production is run "summer camp style" for two weeks in July. The dates and times we are rehearsing/working with the kids are 9:00-1:00 on July 9-July 13 and 9:00-1:00 on July 16-July 20. We would need this person to be available for all or most of those hours and days. In addition, we have one evening -- Thursday, July 19 from 5:00-on -- to "set up" our theatre for the show. Performances for the show will take place in the evening on Friday, July 20, several times throughout the day on Saturday, July 21, and once in the afternoon on Sunday, July 22. It is not required that this person be available at all performances, although we certainly would love to have them there.

This job is ideal for an art teacher who may be off in the summer time, or for a college student who is either seeking a degree in art education or theatre design, but who has a passion for working with kids. It's important to know that we are not looking for somebody to create all this stuff for the kids, we want them to create the stuff with the kids.

Pay is $600 -- although somewhat negotiable. If you are interested, please send a resume and cover letter.
