The Phipps Center for the Arts in association with Philly Developmental LLC is seeking an associate director for their production of Philly, scheduled for nine performances September 18 - October 4, 2020, directed by Rebecca Rizzio.
Responsibilities and expectations include: working with the production team (writer, director, and choreographers) in the pre-production planning process to develop a deep understanding of the show, its vision, and production strategy; working with the director to collaborate and execute the vision for the show, including blocking, character development, and scene refinement; and attending all rehearsals and production meetings. Rehearsals will begin around July 25. A stipend will be provided by Philly Developmental LLC.
Philly is an original musical based on a true story. Set in 1979, Johnny is a bright, undaunted songwriter who meets a charismatic hairdresser with an amazing voice. As the band struggles to make it, the decision to accept financial help from a karma-believing mobster complicates things. The original music is classic rock meets traditional Broadway in this fun-filled, energizing show.
If interested, please send your resume or direct any questions to Rebecca Rizzio, [email protected], by May 15.
Of course, this production is dependent on government directives regarding COVID-19.
