Auditions for new women driven thriller, Minnesota Horror Story - Feb 2020

See-Saw Theatre Lab is holding open auditions for new play, Minnesota Horror Story on Friday, September 20 and Sunday, September 22nd at the Elision Playhouse. Minnesota Horror Story will be produced by See-Saw Theatre Lab at the Crane Theater and will run Feb 8th - Feb 23rd. Rehearsals run January 2nd through February 2nd (evenings and some weekend times), with Tech the week of Feb 3rd. 

All roles are for non-union actors and each actor will be paid a $500 stipend.

The Story: Three young women wake up in an abandoned car in the middle of winter surrounded by a frozen Minnesota forest…with no idea where they are or how they got there…

Roles: 

Yusra: Woman in her 20's - Somali-American (Black) – has big dreams to be the first Somali Chief of Police in Minneapolis, carries a quick comeback to anyone who questions her. Sassy and savvy. First Generation American and proud of it.

Mali: Woman in her 20's - Hmong-American (Southeast Asian) - chemical engineer, works in a research lab, has a compassionate heart and seeks to understand other cultures while keeping her own needs/secrets to herself. A quiet leader. First Generation American and ambivalent about it.

Rachel: Woman in her 20's - American Jew (White/Eastern European) - works in investor relations, background in finance, terrified about where America is headed, likes to know all the facts and be ‘right’ about things. Smart but scared. First Generation American and rejects it.

 

Auditions will run Friday, September 20 from 5:45pm to 8:30pm and Sunday, September 22nd from 11:15am to 3pm.  Callbacks will be Monday, September 23rd - 6pm-8pm by invitiation.

To audition, please email Producing Director Chava Curland with your resume/headshot, and top two audition time slots. Time slots are 5 minutes each (example 5:45pm, 5:50pm, 5:55pm, etc). Times will be scheduled first come, first serve and you will receive a confirmation with your scheduled time.

For your audition please prepare a two minute contemporary monologue OR a personal story about a time you felt an expectation or judgement based on your identity.
