Lakeshore Players Theatre


The Communications Associate’s principal focus is promoting the productions, education and outreach events, services, and public image of the Lakeshore Players Theatre.

DAYS: Full Time—weekdays with some weekends possible.

REPORTS TO:  Artistic Director

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to):

  • Engaging all stakeholders in a professional, courteous, and hospitable manner.
  • Cultivate and maintain media contacts in order to generate relevant stories, interviews and other media coverage for the company.
  • Write and implement communication or promotional plans.
  • Examine the media for issues that affect the company
  • Write news releases, articles, calendar listings, and public service announcements (PSA's), ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Distribute news releases to media
  • Solicit, arrange and organize media interviews (print, radio and TV) for productions or about the company in general.
  • Maintain engaging social media presence (Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Support the development department by assisting with grant writing and marketing fundraising events
  • Post all shows, classes, and events on local website event calendars
  • Post updates to website using WordPress and minimal HTML.
  • Coordinate design of web and print graphics
    • Including postcards, ads, posters, brochures, show logos, emails, etc.
  • Coordinate publicity and production photography
  • Post flyers around town at local businesses
  • Design show program, coordinate headshots and bios
  • Manage online calendar
  • Assist with outreach, fundraising, and theatre events
  • Assist with opening night receptions
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Display a positive attitude with a focus on people and our community.
  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Must embrace the mission of Lakeshore Players Theater to “provide community education and enrichment opportunities through the performing arts”
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the following programs:
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Social media marketing
    • WordPress (HTML knowledge is a plus)
    • Photography
    • Box Office

COMPENSATION: Hourly. Based on experience.
