Costume Project Manager

We are looking for a Project Manager for our Costumes & Creatures division. The Project Manager will coordinate multiple costume projects from estimation through shipping, ensuring that all schedules, budgets, standards and accounting responsibilities are met.  They will also Interact with and serve as liaison between clients, account executives, designers and members of the production team.

Major Areas of Accountability: 

Responsible for preparation of bids and estimates for non-VStar tour clients. Works with Account Executives, Shop Manager, Designer, and Art Director to customize costume designs and bids to best meet the clients’ needs and the shop’s capabilities.

Prepares materials list and time estimates prior to initial meeting of the production team. Uses this meeting to confirm with team members the construction techniques and materials and to produce a timeline for the project.

Monitors progress of each project through daily contact with team members and weekly review of labor reports.  Participates in weekly supervisors meeting to update status of projects and to discuss scheduling of time and space, labor flow and calendar, and how to make best use of resources.

Works with Account Executives to provide updates and information to clients in a timely manner, providing sketches, photos, and swatches as needed, or arranging in-shop fittings or progress meetings.

Provides Accounting with confirmation of materials used on each project for closeout and organizes construction records for future reference in the shop.

Provides training and coaching to personnel to continually upgrade the level of shop performance.  Takes a leadership role in promoting shop safety and awareness.

Monitors quality throughout the entire production process and contributes to the on-going review of materials, techniques and procedures as part of shop growth. Researches new materials that have applications in costume construction.

The ability to work both independently and interactively

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in costume production.

Ability to complete assigned job responsibilities under minimal supervision, balancing and establishing priorities in relation to workload and time availability.

Willingness and ability to contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment characterized by helping others during peak workloads and short-deadline projects.

Ability to provide effective work direction as may be required.

Provides positive direction in the development of all full-time labor.

Contributes to a positive working atmosphere and relationship with employees, vendors and clients.
