This April, Freshwater Theatre will present Dylan Ward’s new comedy, My Life Through History (An Autistic Man’s Journey). The production will be directed by Freshwater company member Ariel Leaf.
My Life Through History features Thomas (Dylan Ward) a young man with high-functioning Autism, taking you on an adventure inside his mind- living out his life story, literally as history. In Thomas’ earliest memories, he doesn’t just like dinosaurs, he is a Triceratops encountering a playground T-Rex. As he ages, he ages with the world, including his first job as a Roman gladiator, romping through the middle ages as a troubadour, finally ending up in modern day America, caught in a battle on behalf of others ignored or tormented by the childhood villain who has followed him through time.
We are looking to put together an ensemble of 3 men and 3 women to create a strong ensemble with equal stage time for all. These are big, bold, fun archetype roles ranging from the bully, to the love interest, to the henchman. There are no age or physical requirements for any roles. Just bring your energy and willingness to have fun!
Please prepare a monologue, 1-2 minutes in length, something you would define as a “character” bit, or even a “caricature” speech, something you really enjoy and shows your ability to commit to a playful extreme.
Playwright and creator Dylan Ward will play the role of Thomas.
Auditions will take place Wednesday, January 11 from 5:30pm-10:00pm.
**If that time frame absolutely will not work for you, but you would still like to audition, please contact us**
