LABRADOR is seeking new company members for its 2017/2018 season ages 16-21. LABRADOR is a young artist training program started and lead by up and coming artists in the Twin Cities. Through a focus on devised work and innovative adaptations of classical stories, the members of the company participate in workshops with professional artists and administrators (clown, masks, grant writing, etc.) as well as take on roles in every aspect of show production. By being a LABRADOR company member, young artists have the opportunity to act, state manage, direct, and design shows over the course of a year, all while working with a consistent company of fellow theatre makers, including artist Jon Ferguson, the head facilitator on the board of directors.
LABRADOR’s inaugural show, “A Life-Sized Dialogue with the Moon” premiered at the Southern in the winter of 2017. A review from Minnesota Playlist wrote that it was “a production that in these often seemingly dark times will leave you laughing, appreciating the beauty around you, and hopeful for the future.” They went on to say that the “young performance makers approach the work with such sincerity and honesty … every moment is owned by the talented young individuals on stage.”
The upcoming season will consist of two shows: one adaptation and one devised piece.
