Lakeshore Players Theatre will be holding general auditions for the first half of Season 67:

Gypsy (Musical)- September 6 - October 6, 2019 - Directed by Paul Reyburn

Miracle on 34th Street - November 22 - December 22, 2019 - Directed by Sandra Struthers

Seussical JR (Musical)- January 3 - January 12, 2020 - Directed by Maddy LaRoche

The Snow Queen - January 24 - February 2, 2020 (in our Black Box) - Directed by Brandon Vincent

Around The World In 80 Days - January 31 - February 16, 2020 - Directed by Rose Schwietz


Auditions will be held Sunday, June 23 from 1:00 -5:00pm and Monday, June 24 from 6:00 - 10:00pm

For musicals/non-musicals - 1 song and 1 monologue totaling NO MORE than 3 minutes

For non-musicals only - 2 contrasting monologues totaling NO MORE than 3 minutes.

GYPSY Cast descriptions (14-16 people):

Rose — the Mother - Rose is  the ultimate "stage mother",  aggressive and domineering, pushing her children to perform. 50-60ish

June — Rose’s daughter - The older version of June.  Pretty, talented and frustrated with Mom's domination. Late teens-early 20s

Louise — Rose’s other daughter - the older version of Louise.  Shy and loyal. At Mom's prodding, she becomes the famous stripper, Gypsy Rose Lee.  Late teens-early 20s

Tessie Tura — An experienced and wisened Burlesque performer.  Specialty - Ballet stripper. Ballet skills a bonus. 20s-30s

Mazeppa — An experienced and wisened Burlesque performer.  Specialty - Trumpet stripper. Trumpet skills a bonus. 20s-30s

Electra — An experienced and wisened Burlesque performer.  Specialty - Lightbulb stripper. Electrical experience not required. 20s-30s

Herbie — Candy salesman and Rose's manager.  Reluctant manager of the act. Loves Rose and the girls, but his patience has limits. 50-60ish

Tulsa — Singing and dancing member of the "Farm Boys".  Dreams of having his own act with his special girl. ~20s. Strong dancer.

Uncle Jocko / Pop / Weber / Kringelein / Goldstone / Miss Cratchit / Cigar / Announcer / Bourgeron-Cochon - Multiple roles for versatile actor(s). Mid 20s +

Baby June/Hollywood Blonde — Rose’s baby daughter--Rose's baby daughter.  An extroverted, talented child star. 10-15

Baby Louise/Hollywood Blonde — Rose’s other baby daughter-Rose's other baby daughter and June's introverted, shy older sister. 10-15

Various child acts/smaller speaking roles/Hollywood Blondes/Farm Boys to be cast from Ensemble.


Tech rehearsals start Wednesday, August 28, 2019. There will be NO rehearsals on August 31, September 1, or 2.

Kris Kringle m: Santa Claus. Kind, patient, jolly mythical fellow who loves children and Christmas.

Doris Walker f 25-45ish: personnel manager at Macy’s. Kind, professional, practical.

Susan Walker g age 7-10ish: little girl. Doris’ daughter. Precocious.

Fred Gayley m 25-45ish: neighbor and friend to Doris and Susan. In love with Doris. Good guy.

Shellhammer m/f: assistant to Doris. Kind, efficient

Doctor Pierce m/f: a physician at Maplewood Hospital. Male or female. Caring and smart.

Macy m: Owner of Macy’s department store

Sawyer m/f: Macy’s vocational guidance counselor. Funny role.

Bloomingdale m/f: owner or Bloomingdale’s

Judge Harper m/f: Judge of NY court

Finley m/f: Bailiff of Judge Harper’s court

Mara m/f: prosecuting attorney. Smart, somewhat jaded.

Halloran m/f: Judge Harper’s political campaign manager

Duncan m/f: antelope keeper at zoo

Al & Lou m/f: postal employees

Ensemble of pedestrians, shoppers, elves, carolers etc. We are seeking a cast of 20-30, approximately 5 of whom should be children who appear between the ages of 6 and 12. Age ranges of most characters are open. When age is indicated, there may be flexibility. Singing, and dancing skills are appreciated, but not a requirement. If you do sing, please be prepared to do 16 bars of your choosing. All actors are encouraged to attend. We are hoping for a diverse cast including a variety of humans ranging in age, race, sex/gender, ethnicity, religion, abilities, etc., and will do our best to create an inclusive, respectful environment for all community members.

Seeking enthusiastic, physical, passionate people to play!

Especially interested in performers with gymnastic/acrobatic/clown experience

All roles open to all genders and ages- but will be a primarily adult cast

Sour Kangaroo: Big voice, lots of soul, good comedic ability

THE SNOW QUEEN cast description


Potential School matinees - January 30 & 31, 10:00AM

The Snow Queen (Age range 24-35): A force of nature to be reckoned with. Powerful, mercurial,

demanding and alluring. She is beautiful, cold and hard, just like her ice and snow. The play’s main antagonist.

Gerda (13-16): A bright, precocious, adventurous girl. Her emotional age will evolve throughout her journey. The play’s main protagonist.

Cei (13-16): A bright, inquisitive boy. Sweet and innocent to start, he grows dark, self-possessed and obsessive as he goes deeper into the world of The Snow Queen. Grandmother (40+): Kind and caring, she tries to protect the children by keeping them ignorant of the dangers in the world.

Mr. Overskou (35+): The father of Gerda. Very strict school-teacher. Not the biggest fan of Cei.

Mrs Fyn (35+): The mother of Cei. Very caring and loving for both Gerda and Cei. She becomes very concerned when Cei goes missing.

Queen of Spring/Mrs. D (28-40): Needy, cunning and a little dotty. She is powerful yet very scattered.

Queen of Summer/Fredrica (28-40): An untraditional princess. Geeky and adventurous, she’s always eager to know and learn more. Explosive energy, she is hopelessly in love with Prince Fred.

Queen of Autumn/Robber girl(18-24): She is the scariest girl you’ve ever met. Demanding and very vicious. She confuses fear and love, and seems to know things way beyond her years about what happens in the night.

Robber mother (38+): Scary and demanding leader of the woods. She always gets her way except when her daughter is around.

Bae (17-24): An honorable and witty reindeer who is the brave protector of the north.

Laughing robber (18+): Not super well kept. Ignorant and often too loud.

Prince Fred (28-40): Charming and socially awkward at the same time. Similar traits to the Princess as they are a perfect match.

JJ (28-40): Prince Fred’s best friend. The class clown/ fun guy at the party.

Lily (18-24): Obey’s the princess at all times. Not super educated.

John (13-16): Friend of Elisa, Cei, and Gerda. Risk taker but can be a bully at times.

Elisa (13-16): Friend of John, Cei, and Gerda. She is genuine and caring to everyone around her.

Snowdrop (14-25): seems to always be genuine. Falls asleep at the most inconvenient times. A flower in Mrs. D’s garden.

Bindweed (18-25): Mentions things as they are. Straight forward character. A flower in Mrs. D’s garden.

Daffodil (22-28): Can be pessimistic at times, yet caring. A flower in Mrs. D’s garden.

Ensemble/snow creatures/trolls (14-30): The foundation and vehicle for the emotional journey of the audience. Snow creatures that follow Gerda on her journey and trolls that attempt to stop Gerda’s journey and scare the audience. These and other roles may be doubled/tripled with other speaking roles.

Actor 1: Gauthier Ralph, British Consul, Director of Police, Priest, Sir Francis, Judge Obadiah, Chinese Broker, Ship Clerk, Bunsby, Proctor, Engineer, Mudge, Clerk, Captain Speedy, Ship Engineer, Train Clerk
                  M, age range 25-50
                  Switches rapidly and constantly through numerous roles. Strong physicality and movement ability a must. Familiarity with accents/dialects a plus.


Actor 2: Andrew Stuart, Detective Fix, Priest, Conductor, Elephant Owner, Young Parsi, Oysterpuff, Reverend Wilson’s Servant
                  M, age range 25-50
                  Primarily plays Detective Fix, a driven (but terribly inept) investigator. Must be able to transition rapidly and convincingly through many characters. Movement ability a must; British accent a plus.


Actor 3: Passepartout, John Sullivan
                  F/M, age range 20-40
                  Acrobatic, comical, accident-prone and fiercely loyal servant to Phileas Fogg. Movement ability a must; French and British accents a plus.


Actor 4: James Forster, Priest, Aouda
                  F, age range 20-40
                  Tough, elegant, witty, and brave Indian woman who steals Fogg’s heart. Actors of color strongly encouraged to audition. Movement ability a must.


Actor 5: Fogg
                  M, age range 30-50
                  Eccentric wealthy British bachelor. Mathematical and precise to the extreme, yet generous and loving when all is said and done. Movement ability a must; British accent a plus.


Actor 6: Foley Artist, Newspaperman
                  F/M, age range 20-35
                  A narrator and commentator character. Movement ability a must.
