New Performance Workshops at the Guthrie: Monologue Prep and Speaking Shakespeare Series!

In addition to our multi-week fall classes for adults 18+, Guthrie Educaiton has announced our upcoming two-day workshops! From Monologue Prep to diving into the language of Shakespeare, these workshops are designed to provide valuable tools for performing artists while accomodating our often busy schedules!

These 1-2 day courses are designed to give students an in-depth look at specific theatre topics or techniques in a condensed time frame.

  • Monologue Prep

Join Twin Cities actor, Suzanne Warmanen for a two-day workshop focused on monologue prep. Students will be guided through the practice of breaking down the text to present a more fully developed performance in the audition room. This is an on your feet, pen to paper class with time given for students to work individually and in groups.  The monologues will be performed for one another with Teacher and group feedback.

What to prepare: Students are expected to bring in two contrasting monologues both roughly 1.5 – 2 minutes long. The full play that both monologues were selected from should also be read in advance of the class. Students are not required to have the text memorized on the first day, but will be expected to memorize both monologues during the week between the first and second class.

Prerequisite: Theater Basics or Physical Approaches I and Voice and Speech I (or equivalent experience). (This class is a great compliment to Auditioning and the Business of Acting class.) Capacity: 12 students. Ages 18+

Dates: Sundays, October 20 and 27 (2 days) | 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Class Fee: $105

Instructor: Suzanne Warmanen
