Audition Preparation

Adults: Please prepare a short selection (no longer than 1 minute) of a song in the style of the show. Selections from Evita are encouraged but not required. You must provide sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

Children: Please prepare this selection from “Santa Evita”. Only girls ages 9-12 will be seen. An accompanist will be provided. Download the selection here.

Character Descriptions

Eva Peron: (Female) Must be able to play ages 18 to 33 while projecting both a toughness and charisma. Beautiful, ambitious, sexual, and power-seeking. Rises to become the spiritual leader of Argentina by the age of 26. Must be a trained vocalist with strong vocal stamina and excellent control. A legit Mezzo with a clear, strong mix that can belt to a high G and sing to a low E (below middle C). Must be a passionate and strong actor who can move well.

Che: (Male, 18-35) Dashing, impulsive, jealous, and manipulative. A political activist and the narrator of the show. An actor/singer that must move very well with a high, rock tenor voice that can sing a low A to high B, falsetto to high F.

Peron: (Male, 30-50) An officer in the Argentinean army who rises to become the Argentine President. Dignified, charming, and authoritative. Vocal bass/baritone to high F.

Peron’s Mistress: (Female, to play 18-22) A very beautiful, fragile, vulnerable, innocent young girl who plays Juan Peron’s teenaged Mistress. Must be able to move well and sing a low A to a high E.

Magaldi: (Male, to play 30 –40) A tango singer with whom Eva has her first love affair. Sings high tenor High G.

Men and Women of Argentina: Seeking a broad range of males and females of all ethnicities from late teens to 60s. Excellent singing voices in all ranges. All shapes and sizes to play everything from Generals to Peasants. A fully featured, versatile ensemble. Movement ability a plus.

Children of Argentina: Four girls ages 9-12 (to play young children) for members of the ensemble.
