Shakespeare for Young Designers

WHO: Theatre students ages 13-19
WHEN: October 2018 – March 2019
WHAT: The Tech Track is an 18-week program culminating in a professional-level production incorporating students' unique design concepts and construction work. Running in tandem with the Core Ensemble Acting Track, the Tech Track program gives students the opportunity to explore the design elements of theatre and bring SYT's 2019 Core Ensemble show to life  with lightingcostumescenic, & sound design

SEMESTER 1: FALL CLASS 
Explore and interpret Shakespeare's text from the perspective of lighting, scenic, sound, and costume design in a series of 10 master classes taught by Twin Cities design professionals. (Wednesdays, October 10 – December 12)

SEMESTER 2: WINTER PRODUCTION
Take a deep dive into one area of design during the production period, and collaborate with a design mentor to bring your vision to life. Attend rehearsals, production meetings, concept sessions, and get hands-on training during tech week to learn important, practical skills. (Rehearsal period runs January 14-March 7; Performances run March 8 - March 17)
