Classical Actors Ensemble, the Twin Cities theater company dedicated to English Renaissance drama, announces auditions for
The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare
Directed by Marika Proctor
To be performed free to the public, outdoors in various area parks
June 23– July 23, 2017 (Thursday - Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons)
Text work rehearsals May 1-6, with intermittent M, T, Sa rehearsals May 8-21 and full rehearsals starting May 22.
We are seeking ten actors (likely 6m, 4w) with stipends varying around $250. We may also have opportunities for unpaid ensemble members--ages 16 and up welcome. We seek actors who not only have the ability to handle heightened language, but who can also negotiate the rigors of outdoor performance. Actors of color are encouraged to audition. Physical comedy skills and musical ability are also highly desirable--in particular we seek Dixieland instrumentation: trumpet, trombone, clarinet, tuba.
Interested performers may submit headshot/resume to auditions at classicalactorsensemble.org and we will respond. We plan see actors Monday evening March 20 with callbacks on Monday the 27 in Minneapolis, but may accommodate outside those times. Selected auditionnees will prepare a brief monologue (90 seconds or under) from an English play circa 1590 – 1642 that best shows your skill with heightened text.
