Theater Latte Da is seeking a Scenic Charge to lead the scenic painting department for Theater Latte Da’s productions and additional projects as contracted through the scenic studio.
The Scenic Charge a part-time hourly position with irregular hours throughout the season. Candidates must be able to work daytimes, evenings, and weekends as needed. Theater Latte Da averages five mainstage productions per season and the scenic charge will be engaged for about 80-120 hours per production.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to maintain a high-level of quality and communication while working quickly.
-Paint and apply surface treatments to all scenic elements based on renderings and paint samples from the Scenic Designer.
-Create, track, and reconcile the paint budget in coordination with the Technical Director.
-Assist the Technical Director in hiring and scheduling of additional scenic painters as needed.
- Attend Production Meetings as needed.
-Maintain the order and cleanliness of the paint area and tools.
Qualifications & Requirements:
-Strong experience with scenic painting techniques, surface treatments, faux finishing, and carving.
-Ability to read construction drawings and paint elevations.
- Ability to lead a team and provide clear direction to others.
-Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
-A Valid driver’s license.
-Comfortable working on ladders and personnel lifts.
-Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to work daytimes, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Pay range - $20-$22 per hour.
