Turtle Theater Collective aims to produce high-quality theater that explores contemporary Native experiences, and subverts expectations about how and when Native artists can create theater.

Some roles will be cast specifically with Native actors, however, people of all genders, ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds encouraged to audition. Non-AEA only.

Stage Manager — Our kind and omninient guide through the play, believes even mundane moments have great meaning, Native.
Emily Webb — Smart, curious, coming into her own, Native.
George Gibbs — confident, baseball player, pines after Emily, content with life as it is, Native.
Mrs Webb — Emily’s mother, crisp and caring, no nonsense, Native.
Mr Webb — Emily’s father, editor at the local paper, soft hearted and well-educated, Native
Wally Webb — Emily’s younger brother, playful, peevish at times, Native.
Doctor Gibbs — George’s father, Town doctor, stoic, Native.
Mrs Gibbs — George’s mother, has dreams to travel, very kind, Native.
Rebecca Gibbs — George’s younger sister, impertinent sometimes, aspirational, Native.
NOTE members of the ensemble will have named roles in addition to multi-track parts (members of the choir, ball players, ghosts in the graveyard etc)
Ensemble roles are open to any age, gender, or ethnicity. Actors of color encouraged to audition.
Simon Stimson- choir director, appreciates beauty and music, suffers from alcoholism and depression
Mrs Soames- friend of Mrs Webb and Mrs Gibbs, a town busy body
Howie Newsome- A farmer who delivers milk throughout town with the help of his cow Bessie, kind and patient
Joe/Si Crowell- newspaper delivery boys, brothers, young and a bit naive
Professor Willard/Constable Warren- the professor is sensible and factual and a little bit geeky, the Constable cares for the well being of the town and it’s people and is more willing to help the drunk home than to arrest him
Joe Stoddard — the undertaker, lots of heart, but gets his job done.
Sam Craig— emily’s Cousin, left town to go out West and has come back for the funeral
