Allison and Jake have only just begun their new lives as husband and wife when a tragic accident changes everything. Confined to a hospital bed and trapped inside a body that won’t cooperate, Allison hears the world around her, but the world cannot hear her. As weeks turn to months, Jake loses hope of getting his wife back and he is forced to choose between his marriage vows and the life he imagined for himself. Is the love they had before the accident enough to tackle the uncertainty of what lies ahead? One foot in each world, both must decide whether to continue the fight, or to finally let each other go. With a story by award-winning playwright Jessica Lind Peterson and a gorgeous original score by contemporary folk sensation Blake Thomas, Flowers for the Room is a stunning new musical about human resilience and the power of choice.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

NURSE, F, 30s
Pretty. Single. Doesn’t mean to overstep. Genuinely loves helping people. Nothing grosses her out. Practices “goat yoga.” Metzo Soprano.

JULIE F, late 40s-50s
Hospital social worker. Terrible at it. Snarky. Once licked a poisonous frog. Alto/Metzo Soprano.

PASTOR GREG M, late 30s-40s
Hospital chaplain who doubles as a semi-professional wrestler called “The Rev.” Looking for a comedic actor with good vocal range.

Cry it Out
by Molly Smith Metzler
directed by Angela Timberman
Rehearsals begin March 18th, 2019
April 12 - May 12, 2019

Cooped up on maternity leave and starved for conversation, neighbors Jessie and Lina become fast friends when they begin daily coffee dates in their adjoining backyards while their newborns nap. Though from vastly different financial backgrounds, they bond over their ferocious love for their babies and the monumental demands of new motherhood. When a stranger from a nearby mansion drops by to ask if his wife who is “having a hard time” can join their coffee klatch, their fearsome two-some is infiltrated with shocking results. A whip-smart comedy with a sharp edge, Cry it Out takes an honest look at being home with a baby, the power of female friendship, the dilemma of going back to work, and the effect class has on parenthood in America.

ALL ROLES AVAILABLE:

Jessie, F, 30’s
Married to a North Shore native; recently relocated to Port (from Manhattan) to raise her family. Educated, articulate, lovely, warm. From the Midwest and has that Midwestern ready-smile.

Lina, F, 20s-30s
From Long Beach (on South Shore of Long Island) and you can tell immediately-she is very South Shore. Acrylic nails, big hoops, velour track suits, Mets trucker hats, and a huge Italian family.  She’s fun, funny and refreshingly genuine.

Mitchell, M, 30’s-40’s
Adrienne’s husband, works in investment capital.  A math nerd who is amazing with numbers, but not people.  Serious, shrewd, sensitive.

Adrienne, F, 30s-40’s
Mitchell’s wife.  Elegant, powerful, aloof and slightly rock ‘n roll. Has eyes that are cat-like and assessing.  A successful jewelry designer.
