New Native Theatre is born

Take a few hours out of your day on Monday to support a necessary addition to the Twin Cites theater community. The New Native Theatre, "a new way of looking at, thinking about, and staging Native American stories," presents a simple fundraiser tomorrow from 1-3 pm at the Minneapolis American Indian Center. New Native Theatre Artistic Director, Rhiana Yazzie, and Gordon Bronitsky, Juanita Espinosa, Caroline Garcia, Richard Hitchler, Justin Huenemann, Emily Johnson, Angelique Kedem, Wade Keezer, Amy Kochendorfer, Tom and Isabella LaBlanc, Laura LaBlanc, Thea Mashino Lee & Tommy Woon, Stephanie Lein, Ardie Medina, Kohl Miner, Teresa Sells-Lowery, Drew Hayden Taylor, Harry Waters Jr., Patricia Welch, Sandra White Hawk, Diane Wilson, Terri Yellowhammer, Larry & Kay Yazzie, and Marne Zafar…cordially invite you to the newest theatre in the Twin Cities! New Native Theatre is a new way of looking at, thinking about, and staging Native American stories. Together, you can help us launch an important new home for our community. Every Monday in May, New Native Theatre has been reading Vine Deloria’s groundbreaking book, CUSTER DIED FOR YOUR SINS, in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater at the Minneapolis American Indian Center. We are turning this culminating reading into a simple fundraiser on Monday, May 31st, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. New Native Theatre’s goal is to raise $2,500 to meet a challenge grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC) by mid June. If we succeed in doing this, MRAC will give New Native Theatre a $4,000 grant! We hope you will join us in person or in spirit!
