The cast heeded the speech from Act III, scene ii - lines were spoken trippingly on the tongue, allowing their discretion to be their tutor, suiting the word to the action and the action to the word.
Review of “Hamlet” posted by Kit Gordon on April 1
I saw the show on opening night, and thought that the production overall was excellent. The script was well thought out (this means I didn't miss anything crucial), the performances were strong. This is a play that I have seen many, many times--both on stage on on film--and I thought this production had a few new insights to offer. I thought that Clarence Wethern's performance was superb: that alone makes the show worth seeing.
Go see this play if you love the English language and enjoy falling under the spell of Shakespeare. The best parts of this play:
Clarence Wethern as Hamlet - a truly moving performance, a noble mind indeed! Wethern is scary good!
The ghost
A strikingly sincere Horatio
Novel use of space and lighting
Inspiring moments of comic relief - Tom Sonnek as Claudius
A stark message about the pitfalls of revenge - very relevant now as it ever was
More recognizable lines than any other play....beautiful timeless lines delivered with depth
"to thine own self be true" Shakespeare
