Paul R. Coate is a professional actor, vocalist, director, educator, songwriter, and arts administrator. Paul is a member of Actors Equity Association and serves on the Twin Cities AEA Liaison Committee.
ACTING CREDITS include Guthrie Theater, Children's Theatre Company, Park Square Theatre, Theater Latte Da, History Theatre, Skylark Opera, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska Shakespeare, Paul Bunyan Playhouse, Pioneer Place on 5th, The Strange Capers, Classical Actors Ensemble, Artistry, and many more.
VOCAL CONCERT/OPERA CREDITS include St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Opera Omaha, Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Skylark Opera. Paul has been conducted by maestros Osmo Vanska, Sarah Hicks, Andrew Litton, Neil Gittleman, Ernest Richardson, and Hal France. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune recently praised Paul's "robust tenor" as Enoch Snow in a concert version of the musical CAROUSEL with The Minnesota Orchestra in 2015.
DIRECTING CREDITS include Normandale Community College (25TH ANNUAL PUTMAN COUNTY SPELLING BEE), Second Fiddle Productions (A NEW BRAIN- reading), SPCPA (THE WHO'S TOMMY and A CHORUS LINE), and Children's Theatre Company (Assistant Director to Peter Rothstein for SHREK: THE MUSICAL).
OTHER MEDIA CREDITS including the feature film APRIL SHOWERS with Tom Arnold and Daryl Sabara. Paul has also appeared in Mannheim Steamroller's "FRESH AIRE 8" DVD and many commercials and voiceovers. Paul worked for ten years as a radio announcer and manager in Omaha, NE at KVNO Classical 90.7 FM.
