Biography

Sara Truesdale is an actor, director and teaching artist. She’s Artistic Director of Breaking Barriers with Toolbox Theatre. Recently, she joined the nonprofit Heart of Dance which teaches 5th graders and 8th graders respect, elegance and teamwork through partner dance. She studies with Raye Birk (The Actor’s Workout, held at the Guthrie), John Woerhle (Self Reliant Actor, held at MacPhail Center for Music), and Eric Hoover (Margolis Method, held at the Art Box).

A proud member of TCCAN (Twin Cities Cabaret Artists Network), she shares personal storytelling through song and also performs regularly with The Dinner Detectives. She has a long commitment to the arts and her experience is comprised of volunteer and paid experience with over 20 theatre companies. She’s interested in social justice, equitable education, healthy communities, and systems. In addition to artistic endeavors, she’s done administrative work for Public Radio International and The Urban Teacher Program at Metropolitan State University, as well as in the private sector. Enjoying working in a variety of ways, she likes being an artist because working collaboratively and analyzing artistic work is an exhilarating way of embracing creativity.
