HATCH Dance joins City Pages’ 2017 Best New Band, Poolboy on stage for an evening of contemporary dance and alternative music July 5-8, 2018 at The Southern Theater. Featuring the world premiere of Isotope, an exploration of the shadow self through music and movement.

Melding modalities and approaches, Helen Hatch (choreographer) and Seth Conover (music) collaborate creating an interdisciplinary performance, bringing together artists from Minneapolis, and merging two worlds that rarely intersect. Featuring dancers Berit Ahlgren, Helen Hatch, Kacey Hauk, Anton LaMon, Jadyn Reddy and Christian Warner.

HATCH Dance is a contemporary dance company presenting the choreography of Helen Hatch. A graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA program in New York, Helen performed with Minnesota Dance Theatre from 2011-2017. Helen’s choreography has been presented at the Ailey Citigroup Theater, the 2011 Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Festival, 2014 MN Fringe Festival, and most recently at Minnesota Dance Theatre. In 2012, Minnesota Monthly named her one of their “10 Artists to Watch” stating that she “embod[ies] ballet’s tension between technique and emotion. In her own choreography, blending ballet with vigorous American movement, this edginess leaves you breathless.”

Poolboy is a slow-burning, atmospheric alternative band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their songs are hosts to entities they don't quite understand. In 2017, they were named City Pages' Best New Band. “The music is impressionistic like psych, though it’s more perturbed — odd and indistinct, it’s music that captivates regardless of how it’s categorized.”-Jerard Fagerberg, City Pages
