The Northfield Arts Guild and director Marc Robinson present Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor.  This hysterical farce performs Fridays through Sundays, February 14-16 and February 21-23. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees at 2pm. All shows are held at the Guild Theater, 411 Third Street West, Northfield.

Set in the 1930s, an opera house is on the verge of disaster when the principal tenor is unable to perform. Still, the show must go on, and the opera managers must scramble to find a replacement tenor before all is lost. With a lively cast of over-the-top characters, slamming doors, and a penchant for mayhem, Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor is an energetic, laugh-filled romp for the whole family.

The cast features Nick Hager as Max, the young man assigned to manage the Italian tenor, played by Bryan Reed with his equally Italian wife played by Laura Schaubschlager. Frank Blomgren plays Saunders, the opera manager working to prevent disaster and Allison Haider performs as Maggie, Saunders’ daughter who is enamored with the star tenor. Tania Legvold and Birch Carlson are brought into the hijinks respectively as Diana and Julia, the leading lady opposite the tenor and the chairperson of the opera, with Greg Muth as the Bellhop determined to have his voice heard as well.

Perfect to shake off the winter blues or to share as a romantic date with a loved one, Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor keeps the laughs coming with hilarious characters and side-splitting physical comedy.
