The Minnesota Ballet opens its 2018-19 season with Robert Gardner’s vision of “Rite of Spring,” to Igor Stravinsky’s monumental score, compelling in its primal force and themes of ritual and renewal. Contrasting the visceral “Rite of Spring,” Salvatore Aiello’s “Senza Fretta” (“without worry”) mirrors life’s joys and simplicities in moves athletic, frenetic, and witty—all to music by the Kronos Quartet’s “Pieces of Africa” and “Mai Nozipo” and set by Jerri Kumery, Curator of the Salvatore Aiello Trust. Exciting new works by talented emerging choreographers round out this dynamic evening of dance.
