Theatre Coup d’Etat presents Moby Dick, a new original adaptation from the novel by Herman Melville, performing May 21, 7:00pm at Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3 in Minneapolis.

Herman Melville’s Moby Dick has been called the “greatest American novel”. Its story illustrates how true greatness is achieved - through diversity, inclusion, and hard work. CDT’s adaptation re-imagines the classic tale by showing a world that is gender, culturally, and racially inclusive. CDT’s Moby Dick is the story of a diverse crew of sailors working during the height of the whaling industry, as told through the eyes of a callow narrator, Ishmael. The hunt this time, however, is for the leviathan that took the leg and splintered the mind of Captain Ahab, a captain haunted by demons of his own making. Under the wisdom and guidance of the great harpooner Queequeg, Ishmael gives us a lens into a world of cultural unity, moral and ethical conflict, and what it means to depend on the person next to you in a dangerous world where each day could be your last.

Two-time Ivey Award-winning Theatre Coup d’Etat is staging this reading of Moby Dick as part of a rigorous workshop process to prepare the script to be fully staged in November.

Admission is pay-what-you-can and open to the public, but reservations are recommended at www.theatrecoupdetat.com or call 1-800-838-3006. Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3 is located at 2601 2nd Ave. S., MPLS 55408.
