Theatre Coup d’Etat presents a staged reading of Moby Dick, a new original adaptation from the novel by Herman Melville, performing Friday, September 22, 7:30pm at Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3 in Minneapolis.

Herman Melville’s Moby Dick has been called the “greatest American novel”. This adaptation illustrates what truly makes America great - diversity, inclusion, and hard work. Coup d’Etat’s Moby Dick is the story of a diverse crew of sailors working during the height of the whaling industry, as told through the eyes of a callow narrator, Ishmael. The hunt this time, however, is for the leviathan that took the leg and splintered the mind of Captain Ahab, a man haunted by demons of his own making. Under the wisdom and guidance of the great harpooner Queequeg, Ishmael gives us a lens into a world of cultural unity, moral and ethical conflict, and what it means to depend on the person next to you in a dangerous world where each day could be your last.

Two-time Ivey Award-winning Theatre Coup d’Etat is proud to present this world premier in the Twin Cities in November after this staged reading. Combining actor-driven movement, live sound-scaping and music, and the intimate seating of Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3, Theatre Coup d’Etat’s production of Moby Dick is another can’t-miss experience.

Admission is pay-what-you-can. Fallout Arts Initiative Co-op Studio 3 is located at 2601 2nd Ave. S., MPLS 55408.
