Drama, Storytelling

Flatten the curve, fire up the imagination! An online, on-demand audio puppetry experience intertwining stories of the crossing of the Red Sea and the Trail of Tears.

Opening Saturday, March 21 at 7 pm (for World Puppetry Day) continuing through May 1

Wherever you are and whenever you want during this run, tune in to hear:

A 3500 year-old Jewish woman recounts her crossing of the Red Sea as a 6-year-old Cherokee boy bears witness to the Trail of Tears. Together, they fill in parts of history that often go missing. With the music by Greg Herriges, slide across centuries and continents to travel the rich emotional landscape from struggle to triumph. Directed by artist/activist Laurie Witzkowski and featuring images of the puppets, by photographer Bruce Silcox, puppetry artists Shari Aronson and Chris Griffith (Cherokee tribal member) weave a story inspired by their own ancestries.

Recommended for adults and youth ages 9+ (Through the Narrows features intense subject matter and verbal descriptions of historically accurate violence)

FREE access for all Native American Tribal Members and people who live or work in Central Neighborhood in Minneapolis (thanks to a grant from CANDO).

Pay-What-You-Will General Access (starting at $3, no one turned away from access).
