Zorongo Majas: In and Out of the Box
Zorongo Flamenco Majas dancers and emerging choreographers present seven original pieces inspired by our varied lives, from construction sites to swooning opera, pickling to pescaderías. By turns fresh, sassy, introspective, and irreverent, the evening will feature choreography by Amanda Dlouhy, Grace Holthaus, Zorongo instructor Colette Illarde, Eve Makiko Laabs, Jenna Laffin, Hilde de Roover, and Molly Kay ‘La Bo’ Stoltz, with special guests Ben Abrahamson, Ross Fellrath, Joshua James Killfoil, and Brenda Nepsund. Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre's Majas apprentice program is directed by Artistic Director and 2017 McKnight Choreography Fellow Susana di Palma. The program's mission is to cultivate dancers and choreographers who develop a strong grounding in traditional Spanish flamenco and use this training as a spring board to create original theatrical work.
