Jan 19 – Feb 19, 2018

Adapted by Suzanne Maynard Miller.
Music and lyrics by Sarah Durkee and Paul Jacobs.

Cozy in this winter for the heartwarming story of Frederick as he shows us that everyone has something special to give to the world. While other mice are gathering food for the winter, Frederick daydreams the summer away. When the cold weather sets in, however, it is Frederick who has stored up something significant to survive the long, blustery winter. The Caldecott winning book by beloved author Leo Lionni has been charming readers for 50 years. Now, this award-winning adaptation, featuring a roots-flavored country and folk-infused score, will delight the heart and tickle the imagination.

Produced by special arrangement with DRAMATIC PUBLISHING, Woodstock, Illinois.

Across the U.S. and around the world, artists, theaters, and collectives will be writing in response to Alfred Jarry’s text and performing it live on Presidents Day in response to our global crisis. Writers will have 48 hours—from noon February 17 to noon February 19—to complete 5-minute plays incorporating ingredients supplied by Paula Vogel. 50 of these plays will be read at the Playwrights’ Center on February 19 by a cast of eight actors. No rehearsal, all instinct.

We encourage everyone, not just playwrights, to write a play. Whether or not you write one, please join us for the reading.

50 daughters. 50 sons. And a wedding night to remember. Loosely based on the ancient Greek play THE SUPPLIANTS by Aeschylus, THE RAVAGERS explores what happens when one daughter discovers herself at the precipice between obedience and resistance. This site-specific production weaves together themes of family strength and political power with the true stories of forbidden love under oppressive regimes. Lavender Magazine called the 2011 production, “ingenious and hauntingly evocative.” More information at

Presented by Six Elements Theatre
  • Drama

Six Elements Theatre presents a new, collaboratively devised work based on ancient Irish legends. Directed by Nathaniel Nesheim-Case, script by Brian Watson-Jones

The greatest warrior in Ireland's history is fighting against an invading army, alone, while the Morrigan, goddess of battle and death, looks over his shoulder, waiting for him to fall...

Adapted by the ensemble from the Old Irish epics of the Ulster Cycle, The Hound of Chulainn tells the tale of two youths touched by fate: Deirdre, cursed to bring sorrow to those she loves, and Setanta, the boy with dog-like loyalty who must choose between his duty and his family. Haunting music and deadly duels punctuate a story about the difficulty and the importance of choosing who you believe and who you fight for.
