In the quaint village of Sleepy Hollow, stories of wonder and strangeness surround the legend of a mighty headless Hessian. When the humble schoolteacher Ichabod Crane vies for the hand of the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, the townsfolk might protest but it is ultimately the Horseman who will decide his fate.

Walking Shadow produced The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in 2013.

In March, one of our most well-attended and reviewed shows in LPT history was tragically cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak. Well, luckily, you’ll now have a first row seat to see our rendition of this chilling tale, adapted by Minnesota playwright Jeffrey Hatcher. Set in the 1940s, a blind Greenwich Village housewife is imperiled by a trio of men in her own apartment. As the suspense builds, Susan discovers that her blindness may be the key to her survival.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Have you ever imagined a world whose laws of physics differed from our own? In our current dystopian future, the Not-So-Silent Planet is entering cyberspace. Listen to some of the most frequent contributors to the country's only recurring open-mic dedicated to speculative fiction: fantasy, sci-fi, or supernatural horror!

This new year, we lift our eyes and look to the skies. We might hear tales of heroes whose strength waxes and wanes with the sun; of monsters called forth by the light of the moon; of vessels that drift between stars. Featuring original fiction by regulars Pat Harrigan, Jei Herald-Zamora, Damian Sheridan, and Tom S. Tea, with Amber Bjork of the Winding Sheet Outfit as our special guest teller! Tune in, and hear about places of which you've never dreamt.

WARNING: while we appreciate the importance of safe spaces, we also appreciate the importance of unsafe spaces, in which writers can experiment with edgier material. None of the stories are screened, and performers may present adult content. We’re free-speech absolutists, and recognize that that occasionally comes at an uncomfortable price.

Growing poetry and storytelling one word at a time, Word Sprout is based in Minneapolis and specializes in producing and capturing Live Literature at its finest. We are committed to providing both open forums and curated stages for people to embrace and share the words that are most important to them in storytelling, poetry, and genre bending verbal explosions.

PRAISE FOR THE NOT-SO-SILENT PLANET

"It shouldn’t be a surprise to you that ultra-hip MPLS + STPL has an open mic night dedicated to...sci-fi, fantasy, tales of the supernatural and such. It also shouldn’t be a surprise that the quality of the material is higher than an H.G. Wells zeppelin."
- Hitara, Secrets of the City

"...that was some delightfully trippy shit...mind-bendingly strange and fun...they burrow into your mind and keep you thinking about them long after they’re done."
- Matthew Everett, Single White Fringe Geek
