Sky is stunned to learn he is the sole beneficiary of his best friend Erin's estate.  But there's a catch--and it's a whopper: Sky must conquer his paralyzing anxiety and criss-cross the country in search of the perfect way to dispose of his friend's remains.  Oh, and Sky must take Erin's chatty parrot Bruce on the trip.  And contend with Erin's overbearing father who demands a traditional funeral!  At once hilarious and heart-breaking, this offbeat comedy celebrates a friendship that knows no bounds.

Content Advisory: Come Back contains adult language and the topic of suicide.

Arla Mae’s Booyah Wagon is a poignant musical comedy that will travel to communities in Minnesota in 2021. The project is a unique collaboration between local actor Sarah Agnew and James Beard Award-winning chef Ann Kim. AMBW is designed to illuminate the benefits of buying and eating fresh, local food. Ann Kim will develop a unique booyah recipe (a traditional, thick stew served at fundraisers and community events in the upper Midwest), that can be sampled at most performances. The show will feature a troupe of performers traveling in a food truck in search of the recipe that once made Arla Mae famous. The show is created, directed and performed by Sarah Agnew and features local performers Jim Lichtscheidl (Guthrie, Jungle, Ten Thousand Things), Elise Langer (Ten Thousand Things), Oogie Push (New Native Theater, Full Circle), and Eriq Nelson (“The Dude,” Minneapolis Children’s Hospital). The set design is by Nick Golfis (Guthrie Theater), with original music by Eric Jensen (the Moving Company).

Minneapolis Musical Theatre (MMT) is building on their “Rare Musicals. Well Done” credo by bringing a free, ticketed event to Twin Cities audiences this fall with “Minne-Musicals” - an evening of five 10-minute musicals, curated from pieces that have been a part of Theatre Now’s SOUND BITES festival in New York. “Minne-Musicals” is a free-form, roving theatrical experience. Audiences will have the opportunity to see five 10-minute musicals - at their own pace, in whatever order they choose. The event is produced in partnership with Hennepin Theatre Trust and The Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis September 10-12, 2021, with performances starting at 6:30pm.

MMT’s “Minne-Musicals” will be performed in four different spaces across two buildings - The Hennepin (900 Hennepin Ave.) and The Chambers Hotel (901 Hennepin Ave.), with each of the musicals repeated several times throughout the evening. Audience members can decide which show to start their experience with and then move through each of the spaces to see however many of the shows they’d like. Those with a Free Pass can get admission to any of the musicals, as long as there is space available, starting with the first performances at 6:30pm and ending with the last performances at 9:50pm. However, free ticketholders are advised to arrive between 6:15 and 7:30pm to make the most use of the pass and for the best chance at seeing all five musicals. As passes are available at no cost, reservations are highly recommended. Rush line ticket availability will be assessed on a per-evening basis.

Attendees may guarantee preferred seating at each of the five musicals with the purchase of a VIP Pass. Also included with the VIP Pass is an MMT gift and a voucher for a free drink at The Hennepin, all for only $40. VIP ticketholders have a check-in time of 7:00pm and should be done with all five shows by 9:15pm. Those wishing to take their support for this project to the next level are invited to become a member of the Minne-Musicals Founders Circle for only $80. Founders get all the perks of the VIP Pass plus are invited to join the MMT Board and Artistic Director for a special Opening Night Launch Party with drinks and heavy appetizers at the Chambers Hotel, Sep. 10 at 5:30pm.

The five musicals included in this engaging, theatrical experience are “A Relative Relationship” with Book, Music and Lyrics by Timothy Huang, “End of The Line” with Book by Howard Ho, Lyrics by Chris Edgar, and Music by Kristen Rea, “The Charm” with Book and Lyrics by Christiana Cole and Music by David Shenton, “The Hipster Sister” with Music, Lyrics, and Book by Andy Roninson, and “Welcome to Ridgington” with Music by Luke Steinhauer and Book and Lyrics by Jordan Silver. Tickets and more information about each of the musicals is available on Minneapolis Musical Theatre’s website at www.aboutmmt.org.

Show starts at 7:30 and will run approximately 75 minutes with a short audience Q+A afterwards.

Here’s the set-up:

In the fictional town of Absalom, a surreal chess match is played between two demonic railroad barons known as the White King and the Black King. Their strange game moves through a series of poignant and unique vignettes -- the Dance of the Pawns, the Dance of the Knights, the Dance of the Bishops, etc. -- in which the unfortunate chess pieces find themselves being made to do battle inside a prison they do not fully understand. As the game progresses, the chess pieces begin to become cognizant of their bleak situation … and attempt to lead a rebellion against the game itself.

"Goodnight, Absalom!" is a dark comedy about a plutocracy that has gamified our world, obsessed with winning more and more wealth until the world’s resources are gone. The show fuses the Spaghetti Western genre with some dark moments from the American industrial age (not to mention a barrage of Faulkner references), taking a hard look at a critically polarized nation and questioning who might gain from keeping it divided, distracted, and disenfranchised.
