Middle school, ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined NOT to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbor, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg… no way.

See Jeff Kinney’s popular character take center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. Will Greg’s plans lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Can anyone avoid the dreaded Cheese Touch? Grab a hall pass and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who actually survived middle school!

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.

To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top Forty score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.

Footloose first burst onto the silver screen in 1984 and proved to be one of the year’s most successful motion pictures. The soundtrack recording reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and went on to sell over 17 million copies worldwide, generating such Top Forty hits as its title song and “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” (both of which received Academy Award nominations), plus “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out For A Hero,” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man).” With a screenplay and lyrics by Oscar winner Dean Pitchford, the story focused on young people, much like his previous, and wildly successful movie musical Fame.

Born to a Creole family in turn-of-the-century New Orleans, Jelly Roll Morton was a classically trained pianist who was fascinated by the ragtime, blues and jazz sounds happening around him. HOUSEFUCKER

created by WeAreMarried

directed by Lizz Windnagel

featuring Jay Eisenberg and Shelby Richardson

Look at you, awake in your bed, wondering if the house you like actually likes you back.

Tossing and turning because you can't meet your house's needs.

Thrashing and gnashing because, let's face it, your house never comes first.

What an embarrassment! We know you just want to be alone in the home. Lucky for you, the uniquely qualified realtors at Beam & Bungalow are here to help. Join Shel Beam and Phil Bungalow for a minimally invasive open house where you'll learn our special techniques for understanding the traumas and dramas of buying, selling, and pleasuring the home. By the time you leave, you'll see houses in a whole new way, a way that makes you shout: "There's not a thing wrong with it!"

At just under an hour, this is a one tight tour that will leave you feeling real loose.

The Labyrinth and the Minotaur: The Incarceration Play Project

7:30 pm
Runs 150 minutes

Mixed Blood Theater
1501 S. 4th St., Minneapolis

Presented by Wonderlust Productions
  • Drama

Once upon a time,
A monster was born, and we built a maze to lock it away.
But its cries from deep underground disturbed our sleep …

This epic new play dramatically reimagines the ancient myth of Theseus and his quest to kill the Minotaur, a half-man, half-beast trapped in a maze. The play layers stories from people who have spent their lives working and living inside a modern-day labyrinth—the Minnesota incarceration system, a place where lawyers, officers, educators, nurses and people who have broken laws and their families are trapped in a civilization all its own.

Performed by a mix of people with experience in the incarceration system and professional artists, the play is based on the true stories Wonderlust Productions gathered from more than 230 diverse stakeholders in the Minnesota Corrections system—from inmates and their families, to corrections officers, prosecutors, public defenders, probation officers, policy makers, and many others.

Playing May 13-22 at Mixed Blood Theater, 1501 S. 4th St., Minneapolis. The performance on Sunday, May 15 will be ASL Interpreted and Audio Described.

Mixed Blood Theater is entirely physically accessible.

Tickets are pay what you can.
Attendees will be asked to wear a mask at all times while inside the theater.
The show will run approximately two and a half hours with one intermission.

Collette’s battle with cancer forces her to confront a lifetime’s worth of regrets and face the fact that her smart, ambitious daughter Ree-Ree idolizes her “Aunt Jen” much more than herself. Jen is a successful lawyer who’s been unsuccessful in love and is coming to the realization that she may be forever single. Lively grandmother Mary Ann has a much younger boyfriend, Eric, who inadvertently makes her feel old, while Amy is coping with classic “Sandwich generation” challenges: an empty nest, an ailing parent, and a dull, unsatisfying marriage.

This incredible script will have you laughing until the moment you’re sobbing as a group of friends help one another navigate more than one kind of change of life in their 50s!

What will endure when the cataclysm arrives – when the grid fails, society crumbles, and we’re faced with the task of rebuilding? Can art remake a civilization? Mr. Burns propels us forward and imagines a future where Bart Simpson and the pop culture references of one era evolve into the mythology of another.

Tucker Lucas (The MajoritySantaland Diaries), production director said, “Mr. Burns is a show about a community living in a post-apocalyptic world where there is no more electricity and so to entertain each other the community members stage old episodes of The Simpsons as plays.”
