Forgotten alchemy. An ancient order. The pursuit of new magic.
A renegade magister’s quest threatens the Cabal’s very existence. Who should control this ultimate power? Enter the secret society and unlock the truth.
Walking Shadow Theatre Company presents Cabal, a live theater experience with puzzles. An audience of 10 people explores an immersive environment, meeting characters and discovering large-scale, hands-on challenges.
Cabal lasts approximately 90 minutes. (It may be more or less, depending on how fast your group is at solving puzzles.)
Cabal is a theater performance, but does not have standard theater seats. As audience members move through the space, they may be asked to be stand or sit. Please be prepared to walk or move at least 600 feet during the course of the event. The venue and experience are wheelchair accessible.
Content advisory: flashing lights, sudden loud sounds, references to magic and the occult.
Recommended for ages 14+.
Covid policy: masks required. Proof of vaccination and booster required (or negative test taken within 72 hours). Cabal is an immersive experience in a small space. Actors and performers will be sharing the same area. Social distancing is not possible, but audience capacity is limited to 10 people. "Where I come from, that's soda pop."
- Scotty, The Trouble with Tribbles
Have you ever imagined a world whose laws of physics differed from our own? In our current dystopian future, the Not-So-Silent Planet is returning to a live and unjuried event. Welcome to the country's only recurring open-mic dedicated to speculative fiction: fantasy, sci-fi, or supernatural horror!
It's our eighth season finale, so uncork your cask of Amontillado, grab a beer at the bar, and unburden yourself with tales of chemical compounds to expand (or contract) your consciousness. Featuring comedian and storyteller Joshua English Scrimshaw! Sign up for 5-7 minutes, and tell us about a place of which we've never dreamt.
WARNING: while we appreciate the importance of safe spaces, we also appreciate the importance of unsafe spaces, in which writers can experiment with edgier material. None of the stories are screened, and performers may present adult content. We’re free-speech absolutists, and recognize that that occasionally comes at an uncomfortable price.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Strike Theater requires proof of vaccination and masking for entry to all shows.
Growing poetry and storytelling one word at a time, Word Sprout is based in Minneapolis and specializes in producing and capturing Live Literature at its finest. We are committed to providing both open forums and curated stages for people to embrace and share the words that are most important to them in storytelling, poetry, and genre bending verbal explosions.
PRAISE FOR THE NOT-SO-SILENT PLANET
"It shouldn’t be a surprise to you that ultra-hip MPLS + STPL has an open mic night dedicated to...sci-fi, fantasy, tales of the supernatural and such. It also shouldn’t be a surprise that the quality of the material is higher than an H.G. Wells zeppelin."
- Hitara, Secrets of the City
"...that was some delightfully trippy shit...mind-bendingly strange and fun...they burrow into your mind and keep you thinking about them long after they’re done."
- Matthew Everett, Single White Fringe Geek
