Actor submissions for Romeo & Juliet and The Tempest

Classical Actors Ensemble is accepting actor submissions for the first half of their 2020 season, including:

Romeo and Juliet
by William Shakespeare
directed by Joseph Papke
touring to secondary schools for intermittent daytime performances, February 13 ~ May 8
rehearsals (evenings/weekends) begin late December 2019

The Tempest
by William Shakespeare
directed by Hannah Steblay
performing in Twin Cities parks, June 19 – July 19
rehearsals (evenings/weekends) begin in April 2020, TBD

We are seeking adult, non-union men and women of all ages.

We are especially seeking actors who play musical instruments and actors of color.

Teens 16+ are welcome as interns and ensemble members.

Previous experience with heightened language is helpful, but not mandatory.

Stipends paid to non-ensemble performers, $250 – $1,200 varying by project/role.

The roles of Friar Lawrence in Romeo and Juliet and Prospero in The Tempest are cast.

Interested performers should submit a headshot/resume (combined PDF preferred with your name in the file name) to auditions at and we will respond with more information.  We are looking to schedule auditions and readings Oct. 27 – 29, but will accommodate as necessary.

CAE captures the spirit in which the plays of the English Renaissance were originally performed – with immediacy, passion, and as popular entertainment. We seek to demonstrate why these plays are considered classic and to freshly prove their relevance.
