Position Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a part-time position of Assistant Technical Director in the Department of Theatre and Dance to begin September 1, 2018.

Major/Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director serves as a key member of the technical team supporting department productions and events by assisting in planning, build and load-in, tech, maintenance, and strike. Additional duties include oversight of tool testing and maintenance, student safety, drafting, production budgeting, and scene shop maintenance.

Required Qualifications: We seek candidates with an earned a BA or BFA in technical theatre (equivalent experience also considered). The successful candidate will have prior experience with scenery and structural design, and working knowledge of construction processes and styles. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills – written, oral, and visual. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task under pressure as a dynamic and supportive team member. A commitment to undergraduate teaching is essential.

Preferred Qualifications: Skills in the areas of welding, lighting, sound, or video are preferred; please indicate in your application letter any applicable preferred skills.
