Auditions for a 2019 MN Fringe Show About Robots

Hercules Theater Company is seeking actors to participate in a new work for the upcoming Minnesota Fringe Festival 2019!

We will be casting 6 actors - all gender identities and ages are invited to audition. Actors must be available for rehearsals in the evenings throughout July (with a few dates in June) and all five performance dates:

  • August 3 @ 1:00 pm
  • August 4 @ 10:00 pm
  • August 8 @ 8:30 pm
  • August 9 @ 5:30 pm
  • August 10 @ 2:30 pm

Please bring a headshot with resumé, and a dramatic monologue to perform no longer than 1 minute in length. Actors will also cold read sides from the script. This is an original show, so some script development will be part of the process. Actors will be compensated from box office returns.

Auditions will take place April 27 and 28 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Phoenix Theatre in half hour blocks.

Please email [email protected] to sign up for an audition time or get for more information. We'll be accepting video submissions if you are unable to attend - email for that as well. We're excited to see you!

Synopsis:

It's a few years into the future, and there are only weeks left before AI units are deployed in law enforcement roles for the first time. Speculation is high as Athena is put through "her" final diagnostics and assessments, and Athena's creator faces intense scrutiny from all sides. Most pressing is the project's funding company probing for any opportunity - questionable or not - for the project to finally turn a profit.

With the project's future on the line, Athena is asked directly about her applications and capabilities. And Athena lies.
