About the Show and Concept:

  • We will be performing Cox & Box at a local Airbnb house in Northeast Minneapolis.

  • Each performance will be attended by 20 - 25 people.

  • This will be an immersive/setting specific staging of this short operetta.

  • Attendees will be able to BYOB and participate in conversation in the house and out on the patio surrounding the event.

  • We will be casting 6 individuals to rotate in and out of performancers as the 3 characters, so that no two shows are alike.

  • This show is co-produced by the Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company (

  • Box: A printer by profession, who works at night, and thus sleeps during the day. Can be quite irascible, especially early in the piece, on returning tired from work. In some ways a lyrical character, but with a tour de force, denouement number towards the end.

  • Cox: A hatter by profession, dapper, well dressed. Fond of their appearance. Their first song is patter and every word must count.

  • Bouncer: Ex-military who is never tiring of telling tales of former glories, the tales becoming somewhat embellished by the passing of the years. An opportunist, letting one room to both Cox and Box, and getting double rent in the process.
