Classical Actors Ensemble is accepting actor, designer, and stage manager submissions for our 2021-22 season.
We perform the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Upcoming productions may include:
- a Fall 2021 indoor production
- a Winter/Spring 2022 school-day educational tour
- a Summer 2022 parks tour
We are seeking adult, non-union performers of all ages. We particularly encourage submissions from actors who:
- are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color
- play musical instruments well
- have experience with classical text or heightened language, or are especially seeking to gain experience with classical text or heightened language
Teens 16+ are welcome as interns and ensemble members.
Stipends paid to non-ensemble performers generally range $250 – 1,200, varying by role and production. Ensemble members are not guaranteed stipends.
Designer stipends range $300 – 800, depending on duties. Stage manager stipends range $600 – 1,800.
We would like actors to please submit a link to a video of a monologue from an English play, written 1580 – 1642, a minute and a half or less, preferably in verse. You may include a second piece if you wish, as long as the total time is no longer than three minutes. The second piece should provide contrast and may be contemporary if you feel it shows your best work. Two classical pieces is also perfectly fine.
Interested performers should please fill out this form and submit their materials here
Designers and Stage Managers should please fill out this form and submit their materials here
Please submit materials no later than May 17, 2021
We will contact you should appropriate opportunities become available in our season planning. Thank you for your interest!
Classical Actors Ensemble performs the plays of the English Renaissance as they were originally intended: as popular entertainment for everyone. By demonstrating why these works of art are considered classic, we freshly prove their relevance in today’s world.
