Classical Actors Ensemble announces auditions for
The Roaring Girl
by Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker
Directed by Joseph Papke
A Midsummer Night's Dream
by William Shakespeare
Directed by Joe Wiener
The Roaring Girl will perform at The Gremlin Theatre, March 2 – March 18, 2018
A Midsummer Night's Dream will tour to Minnesota high schools for intermittent school day performances between February 14 and early May.
CAE captures the spirit in which the plays of the English Renaissance were originally performed – with immediacy, passion, and as popular entertainment. To that end, we employ open staging, direct interplay with the audience, and musical interludes between acts. We seek to demonstrate why these plays are considered classic and to freshly prove their relevance in today’s world.
We are seeking adult, non-union men and women of all ages. We are especially seeking actors who play musical instruments, actors of color, and men over 30. These plays will not be presented as a repertory, though we may wish to cast some performers in both plays. Stipend paid.
Midsummer text rehearsals will begin in December. Roaring Girl rehearsals begin early January.
Please prepare a brief monologue (90 seconds or under) from an English play circa 1590 – 1642 that best shows your skill with heightened text. Please bring a headshot/resume.
If you play a portable instrument well, please bring it along and prepare a brief demonstration. We may ask to hear it.
Auditions will be held September 20th and 23th in Minneapolis.

If you are unable to attend on the 20th and 23th and would like to be considered, please send an electronic headshot and resume to auditions-at-classicalactorsensemble.org
