The Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company invites chorus members (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses) to join us for our summer concert presentation of “The Pirates of Penzance”. The performances will be the evenings of Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 at the Lake Harriet Bandshell in Minneapolis. This is a concert version, with the chorus using scores during the performances. It is performed in partnership with the Minneapolis Pops. There are two rehearsals at the end of June and two in July to prep the music and two evening rehearsals the week of the performance. There is also a run-through with the orchestra on the morning of the Saturday, July 23 performance.
There is no audition to sing in the chorus. However, you must be an experienced singer who is able to read music as the prep time is very short.
There is no pay for the singers in these performances. There is glory, thousands of unpaying fans, and your friends and family can come for free.
If you are interested please send a resume or other summary of your musical experience to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use the heading: Singing in Pirates of Penzance.
