Want to know more about Arbeit Opera Theatre?
Arbeit Opera Theatre (AOT) is a Twin Cities-based arts collaborative focused on promoting local talent in innovative productions at new and unique venues in order to share the excitement of opera theatre to as many communities as possible.
Arbeit is the German word for “work”, and that’s exactly what this company hopes to promote; work for working artists in Minnesota. And it doesn’t just stop at Opera. AOT believes in fusing multiple forms of art in order to create tantalizing theatre events to create a diverse artistic community.
AOT was Created in January 2018 by Opera Producer, Kelly Turpin, after she was awarded an Artists Initiative Grant from The Minnesota State Arts Board in order to pursue her vision of funding a new production to showcase the relevance of art and opera in our modern society.
Arbeit’s inaugural production will be Gian-Carlo Menotti’s poignant opera, THE CONSUL, in November 2018. Using all local MN artists it will fuse opera, dance, and theatre to portray the moving story of a family trying desperately to flee their war-torn country.
