Directors/Music Directors/Choregraphers/SMs/Teaching Artists needed for youth & adult education programs with Lakeshore Players Theatre

Lakeshore’s Education department is hiring for winter and spring. We are looking for teaching artists, directors, stage managers, and designers to staff both our onsite programming and offsite residences in the North Metro Area. Read on for more information.


                                                                                  IN-SCHOOL RESIDENCIES

Honk Jr.  - Residency at  Matoska International IB World School in White Bear Lake 

This program is designed to introduce elementary students to the basics of musical storytelling in the context of a minimally-produced show. Rehearsals will happen 2x /week in the spring, culminating in 3 public performances on the Mainstage at Lakeshore Players Theatre. 


Positions Available: Teaching Artists who have experience in directing, music directing, and choreographing for young students. 

Dates of Engagement: January 4 - May 6, 2023  

Time Commitment: 3:30 pm - 5:15 pm, M & W, save for Tech Week (exact hours TBD)


Matilda Jr. with Murray Middle School in St. Paul

This program is designed to give middle school students the opportunity to learn the basics of a theatrical process in the context of a full production. Rehearsing 2x/week for a few months, the project will culminate in two public performances at Murray Middle School in St. Paul.

Positions Available: Director, Music Director, Choreographer, & Stage Manager

Dates of Engagement: November 30, 2022 (Audition Workshop) - March 24, 2023 (Final Show & Strike). A read-through will be held in December. Rehearsals will begin January 4, 2024. 

Time Commitment: 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm, M & W, save for Tech Week (exact hours TBD)



For all projects above, designers will receive a stipend of at least $200, and directors/teaching artists/designers/choreographers/music directors/stage managers will receive a stipend of at least $700 for their work. Stipend amounts are based on show budgets & vary by role. Stipends are also commensurate with experience.

NO SWEAT: Youth Audition Workshop - Saturday Morning Class for Middle-Schoolers

Position Available: Teaching Artist

Pay rate: $35/hour 

Dates: Saturdays, February 18 - April 1 (No class on March 11)

Times: 10 am - 12 pm

Participant Grades: 6th - 9th

Class Description: 

“We all know auditions can be the hardest part about being a performer - draining confidence, increasing anxiety, keeping you glued to your phone for days as you wait for the cast list. Auditions are rarely an actor's favorite part of the process. Good news! Lakeshore’s Ed Dept has you covered!”


SIPS 'N SCRIPTS -  Wednesday Morning Class for Adults.

Position Available: Teaching Artist

Pay rate: $35/hour 

Dates: March 15 - May 3, 2023

Times: 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Participant Ages: 55+

Class Description: 

“Join us weekly for Lakeshore’s first, low-stakes, adult social hour, Sips & Scripts. Each week we’ll provide coffee, treats, and a compelling play to read!  We’ll read the play out loud together, have a few laughs, and afterwards have a conversation about the story, the characters, and what it’s all about.”
