An introduction to the Sanford Meisner approach to acting technique – sixteen acting classes are conducted in an eight-week session. In this class the actor works to learn and apply fundemental acting principles through a step-by-step progression of exercises that develop his/her ability to work organically and to create truthful and expressive behavior in acting. This workshop is for actors of all experience levels ages 21 and over.

Sanford Meisner defined acting as “living truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” Meisner Technique instills in actors the basic, essential skills of: listening, responding truthfully and spontaneously, committing to actions, using imagination to fully create and personalize a set of given circumstances, and identifying each individual’s personal emotional triggers. Meisner Technique helps actors "get out of their head" and into the moment.

Attendance to all class meetings in addition to rehearsals outside of class is expected.

The class is open to anyone age 21 and over with an interest and willingness to commit to the intensive demands of actor training, however a face-to-face or phone interview is necessary before acceptance into the workshop.

If invited to participate, a $100 deposit will be required to hold your place. The deposit is refundable if you cancel your registration by August 11. Final payment is due August 27 and is non-refundable.

Here's some great feedback from recent students:

"I found the Meisner technique extremely helpful because I no longer cared about the lines that I was saying, but how my partner was behaving. Rich was a great teacher, he always seems to know what to say to the actor. He has an intensity that brings out the best in actors, and pushes you to want to do better."  – Yinka Ayinde

"This class opened my eyes to Meisner and how it can work for anyone.  It’s all about connecting to your partner and being in the moment, actually being in the moment.  And it only requires you as yourself, which means anyone is capable of acting with this technique. Rich was very thorough and patient.  He is very straightforward and puts you under pressure which really shows its purpose when applied to scene work later on in class." – Will Rhodes
